On December 28, 2018, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced in a Federal Register Notice (FRN) the addition of Section 301 product exclusions on the first list of tariffs imposed on approximately $34 billion in goods of Chinese origin.

According to the USTR, the product exclusions will apply as of July 6, 2018, and will extend for one year after the publication of the notice. The product exclusions are laid out in an annex to the USTR’s announcement in the FRN, and cover seven 10-digit tariff subheadings and 24 specially prepared product descriptions.

The USTR has instructed U.S. Customs and Border Protection to issue instructions on entry guidance and implementation.
