On April 3, 2017 the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released a statement announcing that the United States and Thailand met to discuss remaining issues and trade expansion under the U.S.-Thailand Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA).
According to the notice, “This agenda includes bilateral trade initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, job creation, and competitiveness, as well as addressing unfair trade practices.” The meeting was attended by interagency teams including U.S. officials from the USTR, Department of State, Agriculture, and Commerce, as well as, Thailand officials from the Ministries of Commerce, Health, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Labor, Natural Resources and Environment.
