USITC Investigates Possible Modifications to GSP

On January 17, 2017 the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) released a news release announcing they are seeking feedback on potential modifications to the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP).

The USITC is investigating the potential “impact on U.S. imports, competing U.S. industries, and U.S. consumers” on the addition and removal of several tariffs for all GSP beneficiary developing countries. USITC will also investigate several tariffs for competitive need limitations. 

USITC will provide their confidential findings to the USTR no later than May 4, 2017. Written submissions will not be accepted after March 3, 2017.
