UK Notifies WTO of EU Withdrawal

On February 1, 2020, the United Kingdom (UK) notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its status after its January 31st withdrawal from the European Union (EU).  The UK will remain a member of the WTO.  It will be treated as a member of the EU for the purpose of international agreements and for the schedule of commitments previously agreed upon in the WTO for the EU for the transition period. 

The UK intends to take an active role in the WTO and to continue working with other members to strengthen the multilateral trading system.
