The United Kingdom (UK) government’s Department for Exiting the European Union (DEEU) announced preparations for a ‘no deal’ scenario where the UK leaves the European Union (EU) without an agreement in place.
According to the DEEU, “For two years, the government has been implementing a significant [program] of work to ensure the UK will be ready from day 1 in all scenarios, including a potential ‘no deal’ outcome in March 2019.” As part of the preparations, the UK government will publish a series of technical notices during August and September that provide guidance on a variety of situations in a ‘no deal’ scenario. Additionally, the UK government has said it will continue to work with the EU to secure a withdrawal agreement.
The UK is currently set to exit the EU at 11:00 pm GMT on March 29, 2019.
