On August 29, 2018, President Trump issued proclamations on the Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs, expanding the range of the exclusions that may be granted.

The proclamations modify the exclusion process to include products that are subject to the quota process. Exclusions may only be granted by the Secretary of Commerce to directly affected parties in the U.S. Any particular product granted an exclusion will be publically posted and retroactive to the date the request for relief was accepted by the Department of Commerce.

Procedures for requesting exclusions shall be issued by the Secretary of Commerce “as soon as practicable.”
