U.S. and Indonesia Hold Meeting on TIFA

On June 15, 2017, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) issued a press release on the recently held meeting of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) between the U.S. and Indonesia. The TIFA was signed by both countries in 1996 and is aimed to boost trade and investment between the two economies.

According to the release discussions included, “views on regional and global trade developments, including related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other regional and multilateral trade arrangements.”

In 2016, imports to the U.S. from Indonesia were valued at $19.2 billion with U.S. exports to Indonesia valued at $6 billion.
