On June 12, 2017 the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) issued a press release announcing the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Chinese officials had reached an agreement on details outlining the protocol for U.S beef exports to China for the first time since 2003.
The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) posted, “the requirements for its Export Verification program for U.S. establishments shipping to China, which will enable packers to apply for approval to export to China.”
The agreement was co-chaired by Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Secretary of the Treasury Steven T. Mnuchin, and China’s Vice Premier Wang Yang as part of the U.S.-China Comprehensive Economic Dialogue.
