President Trump Ends Steel and Aluminum Exclusions for Canada, Mexico, and EU

On May 31, 2018, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that effective June 1, 2018, the exclusions granted to Canada, Mexico, and the member countries of the European Union (EU) for the section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs will end.

Argentina and Brazil, along with South Korea, will be subject to an absolute quota on steel imports of goods outlined in Presidential proclamation 9705. Argentina will be subject to an absolute quota on aluminum imports of goods outlined in Presidential proclamation 9704.
