The Union Customs Code (UCC), together with its Delegated and Implementing Acts, came into force in the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2016.  Although minor delays were initially reported on Sunday, May 1st, no further delays or challenges with the submission of all forms of declarations to customs administrations throughout the European Union have been reported.

Based on customs administrations resource availability, it is expected that economic operators will be notified as and when to take actions for applying for new authorizations, licenses and the lodging of financial guarantees, to bring these in line with the requirements of the UCC.
