Tianjin Explosion Update

Posted by Julia Gogoll on 8/14/15 5:04 PM

On August 12, 2015, a significant series of explosions occurred in the vicinity of the ocean port complex in Tianjin, China.  The situation in and around the Tianjin port remains very dangerous and fluid.

Expeditors’ Tianjin office remains fully operational and staffed, and has been in constant communication with partner ocean carriers. Current reports suggest significant delays in the days and weeks ahead for import and export cargos moving through Tianjin ocean terminals, especially shipments involving containerized hazardous cargo.

Ocean carriers have yet to provide contingency plans, and diversions of import and export cargo to other ports in the North China region are expected.

Expeditors will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they occur. Please contact your local Expeditors office for specific questions and concerns.
