On February 27, 2015, the House of Representatives passed a one-week funding measure for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) avoiding the agency’s partial shutdown.
According to a release by the New York Times, “The seven-day funding extension, approved by a vote of 357 to 60, came just hours before money for the department was to run out at midnight. About 10 minutes before the funding was set to expire, the White House announced that the president had signed the weeklong extension.“
Agencies that would have been affected by a shutdown include the Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Secret Service, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Expeditors will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they occur.
