CBP Announces ACE as Sole EDI System

On February 29, 2016 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released a Federal Register notice advising the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) will replace the legacy Automated Commercial System (ACS) as the sole electronic data interchange (EDI) for processing certain electronic summary and entry summary filings.

The certain types of electronic summary and entry summary filings that will be going through ACE will be:

  • Consumption – 01
  • Consumption: Antidumping/Countervailing – 03
  • Informal – 11
  • Temporary Importation Under Bond – 23
  • Defense Contract Administration Service Region – 51
  • Government: Dutiable – 52
  • Lacey Act under the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) requirements
  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

The effective date for these filings will be March 31, 2016. Additional notices will be sent out as more types of entries become required under ACE. The full notice can be viewed here
