Argentina Customs Strike

Posted by Julia Gogoll on 9/18/14 5:11 PM

On September 11, 2014, Argentina’s Union for Customs Employees (SUPARA) issued a press release announcing the holding of a 96-hour strike starting September 18, 2014, due to continued contract negotiations. The Customs Union is requesting an increase in public salaries, which the authorities initially agreed upon on May 6, 201

Customs workers informed that this measure will block exports, imports, and generate difficulties for people who are entering and leaving the country.

SUPARA also confirmed that the strikes will continue September 24-29, 2014, if an agreement has not been reached.

Expeditors will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they occur. Please contact your local Expeditors office for specific questions and concerns.
