GSP Due to Expire December 31, 2017

On December 19, 2017, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) is due to expire on December 31, 2017 in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000789.

Unless Congress renews GSP, the special program indicators “A,” “A+,” and “A*” will expire for any goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse after midnight on December 31, 2017. CBP encourages importers to continue to flag GSP-eligible imports with the SPI “A” while paying normal duty rates in the event that GSP renews retroactively.
