G-20 Launches Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity

In a press release issued by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) it was announced that on December 16, 2016 the G-20 and other steel-producing countries met in Berlin, Germany and commenced the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity.

According to the release, “By establishing this forum, the United States and our trading partners have demonstrated a resolve to address the systemic issues causing the global steel crisis and creating a negative impact on steelmaking industry and workers in the United States and around the world.”

The G-20 and other participating members from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will meet in February.
