On March 5, 2019, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced changes to Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs), increasing the penalty amounts to align with other non-trade commercial penalties. These increases affect non-compliant importers only.

Per the announcement, CBSA amended twenty-two contraventions related to trade, and those amendments will be effective as of April 1, 2019.
