On May 17, 2017 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #17-000279 advising the trade on the regulations in regards to processing air splits, which must be entered in the air manifest system.

According to the notice, “Cargo moving on the same air waybill but not declared in the ACE air manifest system as a split, is not eligible for split entry processing.  As such, one entry per conveyance is required.  This applies to a single house air waybill split across multiple master air waybills.”

CBP also advises that a cargo release query can be submitted to determine if a split was manifested.
