Argentina Announces Duty Reduction for Certain Apparatuses

In an Official Bulletin published on February 20, 2017 the Argentina Republic issued Decree 117/2017 as part of a plan to reduce manufacturing costs of several apparatus including electronic equipment, improving Argentina’s competitiveness and productivity.

Decree 117/2017 reduces the imported duty rate to 0% for 72 technological items when imported into Argentina. These items are divided into two groups, Annex I and Annex II.

Annex I includes, but is not limited to the below items, which will enter into force on February 21, 2017:

  • Printers
  • Input or output units whether or not containing storage units in the same housing
  • Parts and accessories of Data processing Machines
  • Photosensitive semiconductor devices, including photovoltaic cells whether or not assembled in modules or made up into panels
  • Light-emitting diodes (LED)

Annex II includes the below items, which will enter into force on March 31, 2017:

  • Portable Automatic Data Processing Machines, weighing not more than 10kg
  • Processing Units
