On April 13, 2018, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced in a press release that Argentina will allow market access for U.S. pork exports for the first time since 1992.

Based on an agreement with Argentina last August, the USDA and the USTR have been working with the government of Argentina on the terms of the access, which were recently finalized. According to the press release, exports of pork to Argentina could mean a potential $10 million per year in sales for American pork producers.
