Understanding LCL Shipments

Less than Container Load (LCL) shipments are complex, very complex. With multiple moving parts, LCL shipments can be overwhelming and intimidating, but they do not have to be. Utilizing LCL shipments can ensure that you don't have to worry about holding inventory longer or over-buy to stay at FCL volumes.

Still wanting more information? Watch our video and see how we break down the complexities of LCL shipments.

How do LCL shipments work?

We consolidate multiple LCL shipments of different weights and volumes from several shippers to fill a single shipping container. The container is then moved from point of origin to point of destination where it is deconsolidated to deliver individual shipments to their respective consignees.

Expeditors seamlessly assumes the responsibilities and costs of moving the shipping container through multiple touch points in its journey to the final destination while customers simply pay for the space they occupy on that journey.

Our well established global and local partnerships with strategic service providers offer land, ocean, and warehousing services. Like all other products, our LCL services closely controls all facets of our partners’ work through service provider agreements, annual risk reviews, and periodic service evaluations.
