Description:
The starting point of an import or export transaction is the proper classification of the merchandise. Among other things, classification determines duty rates, eligibility for special trade programs, licensing, and PGA applicability. We will review the HTSUS and Schedule B, the General Rules of Interpretation, Binding Ruling, the Explanatory Notes, Commodity Jurisdiction, ECCN determination, and Licensing.

Free Trade Agreements have been around in one form or another for about 30 years, yet they remain one of the most complex, misunderstood, and misapplied customs strategies used by importers and exporters today. We will discuss the various Free Trade Agreements in effect and run through the steps companies take to properly participate in the NAFTA, CAFTA, and other Agreements.
