OVERVIEW 


Bose, the worldwide recognized manufacturer of high quality audio technology, has been a valued partner of Expeditors since 2018.

We started by providing airfreight solutions coupled with customs brokerage services to support their fixture and display projects. As our relationship with Bose developed, we were given the opportunity to manage their brokerage across the globe, including the U.S., Brussels, Belgium, Canada, and more.

When faced with several large projects for outfitting displays inside multiple large, national warehouse retailers, Bose needed the support of a provider that has the network, resources, and expertise to manage projects varying in size, the flexibility to work around store hours for deliveries, and capabilities for value-added services as necessary.

Over 12 months, we handled several projects for Bose ranging in size from 500 to over 1,000 locations each. Global locations required us to provide different types of displays, varying in style and language. We performed additional services, including customer-specific labeling and DC storage and staging by store for delivery.

THE POWER OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT 

To manage the complexity of these projects for Bose, we implemented a centralized operational team in Chicago that ensured all operational requirements were identified and serviced, overseeing coordination with all respective Expeditors locations. As the single point of contact for Bose’s operational functions, our team carried out day to day decisions and worked directly with their customers and vendors to guaranty all requirements and timing were met.  

Utilizing project management techniques and tools, our designated team coordinated directly with suppliers on when displays would be ready for pickup. This team also scheduled each delivery with Bose end customers and the installation technicians to meet each install date. To document all these steps, we planned and mapped out process flows. This served as a document Bose could easily refer to as well as gather any necessary information, such as product data and production lead times. This type of planning allowed for projects to run smoothly, avoiding guesswork and keeping both parties in clear and constant communication.

 

TRACK AND TRACE

Our EXP.O visibility and reporting tools made it simple for Bose to closely track and trace their shipments throughout the entire process, from the factory to the final delivery stage. Bose was able to closely monitor their freight to identify any potential at-risk shipments, therefore allowing our team to proactively enact contingencies to deliver freight on time without exceptions.

 

With online access to customized reporting and tracking, Bose could pinpoint a specific shipment and pull its tracking information, allowing them to easily relay internal information to their customers. This was essential to having discussions on the status of customers’ deliveries.
