Adam has more than twenty years of experience as an economic advisor to global leaders across a range of industries. He has extensive experience in the U.S., Europe, and Middle East. Adam most recently worked at Chevron as a Senior Economist, and he is responsible for Onyx's macroeconomic analysis and forecasting. Adam earned a Bachelor degree with honors in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a Masters in Public Policy from Duke University.
Brenda Smith is responsible for supporting Expeditors’ partnerships with government agencies and international organizations focused on supply chain regulation and facilitation. She has extensive experience in international trade and compliance and currently serves as the Global Director of Government Outreach.
Brenda completed a 34-year career with the U.S. government in 2021, which included five years working as a professional staff member in the U.S. Congress, and experience at the Department of Treasury and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). At CBP, she served as the Executive Assistant Commissioner of Trade from 2014 until 2021.
In this role, she led CBP’s Trade mission, overseeing trade enforcement, security, and facilitation matters to enable legitimate trade, contribute to economic prosperity, and protect against risks to public health and safety. She oversaw national compliance audits, management of trade data and CBP’s regulatory process for administering trade and border operations. She partnered with CBP’s IT experts to modernize trade automation and apply analytics technologies in the trade environment.
Brenda serves as part of Expeditor’s delegation to the World Customs Organization Private Sector Consultative Group and on the Advisory Board of FloraTrace Inc. She is also a member of the International Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC) on Customs Matters and Trade Facilitation and is a Board Member of the Association of Women in International Trade.
Chuck Forsaith has been involved in pharmaceutical supply chain security for more than 24 years. He joined the Healthcare Distribution Alliance in November of 2017, where he serves as a Vice President in charge of the HDA’s “Pharmaceutical Cargo Security Coalition”. The PCSC, which has over 2,000 active members, from a wide variety of disciplines, monitors the security of pharmaceutical and healthcare goods - in both transit and storage - all over the world.
A well-known subject matter expert, public speaker and author, Chuck has lectured in the disciplines of Supply Chain and Site Security for such organizations as the Food & Drug Administration, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, the Central Intelligence Agency, US Customs, and over two dozen governmental Customs agencies from other countries in the world.
Dan brings over 35 years of expertise in trade compliance and international logistics, with the past 15 years focused specifically in the pharmaceutical industry. In his current role he leads the Global Trade Compliance (GTC) function at Vertex, where for the past five years he has been responsible for shaping the company’s global compliance strategy and overseeing high-level trade operations.
Dan began his career as a customs broker on the U.S.–Canadian border and earned his U.S. Customs Broker License in 1989. He later transitioned from the brokerage side of trade into a corporate logistics role at Case New Holland, starting as an import analyst. Over time, he advanced to become Director of European Logistics, a role that took him to London and Paris.
Prior to joining Vertex, Dan held senior director positions at Johnson & Johnson and Merck, where he continued to build his leadership in global trade compliance. He also spent eight years as Vice President of Global Shipping at Christie’s, the world-renowned fine art auction house.
Dan holds both an MBA and an MA in International Trade from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Lauren Gleason, Port Director, at the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), has been in her current role since June 2024. Lauren oversees all operations, security, financials, external events, marketing and business development, strategic planning, and general administration for the Maritime Department. Lauren started with Massport in November 2017 as the Deputy Port Director, Business Development. In that role, she promoted strategic growth to the New England business community while implementing initiatives to build and strengthen services and targeted business development objectives. Under Lauren’s leadership, the Port of Boston expanded ocean carrier services in 2022 when she was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer, providing Boston direct connectivity to nearly 40 ports globally throughout China, Southeast Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America. Lauren has also played an integral part of the return of the cruise industry back to Greater Boston and Massachusetts post-pandemic. In 2024, Boston had a record-breaking cruise season, welcoming over 480,000 passengers and 167 vessels to Flynn Cruiseport which generated $256 million dollars in economic benefits for the Commonwealth.
Lauren is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, receiving dual degrees in Global Business Management and Spanish Language and Literature.
After founding several small distribution businesses, Max Lock created Fleet Logistics to disrupt the historically complex freight forwarding marketplace with a self-service transportation platform. Fleet Logistics eventually became a subsidiary of Expeditors. Over the last several years, he was awarded the Thiel Fellowship, raised over $15M and moved tens of thousands of shipments for thousands of businesses across the world. He became the Global Director of Cargo Signal in 2023.
As Tradewin’s global leader, Michael spearheads the continued growth in geographical coverage, customer engagement, and product development in North America, Europe, India, and the Asia Pacific Region. With over 20 years of experience in Trade Compliance and Global Logistics, he has an extensive working knowledge of the intricacies in verticals such as Retail/High Fashion, Tech, Aerospace, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Automotive. He brings his talents for common sense solutions to complex regulatory scenarios such as tariff classification, export controls, trade agreements, duty recovery and mitigation, training, and managed compliance programs.
Michael is a U.S. Licensed Customs Broker. He is IATA/FIATA certified and is a member of the International Compliance Professionals Association. He is a proud graduate of Boston College.
Norm joined Tradewin in 2011, continuing a successful career in international logistics and trade compliance that began in 1987. He has held the position of Trade Counsel for a logistics management firm and managed the Trade Compliance departments for several multinational corporations. Norm's technical background includes Focused Assessment, C-TPAT implementation, Free Trade Agreement compliance, and expertise in a broad spectrum of international trade topics.
Norm holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and a J.D. from Suffolk Law School. He is a licensed customs broker and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
Pat St Laurent, Vice President, Global Professional Services, is in his 48th year in the business of logistics & supply chain management. After 25 years in international forwarding, he pivoted to a role more broadly focused on supply chain & technology, which has been his focus ever since. He joined Expeditors in 2005 where he founded then led our Supply Chain Solutions group for 12 years (now Onyx Supply Chain Design), followed by 7 years in the Strategy & Innovation group, focused on generating new businesses and capabilities for the company.
He's been in his current role since 2024, working in partnership with many of the company’s largest customers on driving performance through a wide range of strategic initiatives.
Pat has broad knowledge of how supply chains work, how they’re expected to perform, and the role of technology in fueling their evolution. He’s a seasoned public speaker and demonstrates great passion and enthusiasm for the topics he covers.
