Alan is a veteran with 45 years’ experience in the customs administration environment.  He spent 24 years working in the South African Revenue Service, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in all aspects of customs administration.  He held various management positions within that administration and was a founder member of the Unit for Fiscal Analysis within the Department of Finance - undertaking research projects for VAT, customs and excise duties. He left the customs administration in 1999 and he spent three years as an independent consultant. Alan joined Expeditors in 2002 and took on the role of Director Customs Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, based in the Netherlands – tasked to develop and grow the customs product within the region. He currently holds the title – Director Customs Europe.

Having worked at Expeditors for twenty years, Tony’s career path has encompassed logistics, systems and customs.  Since 2004 he has worked on customs systems across the European Union and in 2014 took on the role of operations director also.  Tony has worked with Expeditors customers on their brokerage programs, in particular in integration and electronic data, across all industries and regions.  Since the UK voted to leave the EU, a large part of his work has been focused on addressing the associated customs challenges internally with Expeditors and advising customers on  approaches to minimize disruption to their supply chains.

Prior to joining Expeditors, he worked with Aer Lingus in aviation logistics systems.
