FDA Provides Updated Fact Sheet on FSVP

On May 11, 2017 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a constituent update announcing the FDA website has been updated along with additional fact sheets to provide additional information in regards to the Food Safety Program (FSVP).

According to the notice the FSVP, “makes them [importers] responsible for verifying that food imported into the United States has been produced in a manner that meets applicable U.S. safety standards.”

The fact sheet includes responses to questions such as:

  • Who Is Covered by the FSVP Rule?
  • What Will I Have to Do Under the FSVP rule?
  • What Foods and Beverages Are Exempt from FSVP?

The FSVP will begin on May 30, 2017.
